Pull up next to the car you are parking behind with your left mirror, about a foot in front the parked car’s door mirror. Use the P-O-M procedure with reversing observations and remember all reversing manoeuvres are at the speed of a snail, giving you time to think and look. As the car approaches the first reference point, turn the steering wheel to the left (to the reference point on the steering wheel) and while the front of the car moves in to the middle of the road, look to the right and back down the road, to make sure that where the font of the car moving to is clear. Look for the next reference point and then full lock to the right. Look for when you are straight behind the car that is now in front of you and find your parked reference, stop and secure the car. This manoeuvre needs to be performed within the length of a car and a half. So there is half a car length between you and the car you have parked behind. Again, if there is other traffic on the road, stop and secure the car until they stop or pass you. Also, stop for pedestrians on the path of your side of the road until they pass (this means you need to be looking all around all the time).
